Curricula Review
In line with our goals to strengthen the carpentry trade at Don Bosco, BIWE held a curricula review workshop for Cabinet Making and Carpentry & Joinery trades. The workshop was facilitated by our German expert, Mr. Linus Reuter.
Representatives from industry and trainers were in attendance over the course of the intensive 2 day workshop. These expert representatives from Don Bosco Karen, Don Bosco Makuyu, Unity Homes, Nereja Enterprises and Path4Her have a combined experience of more than 50 years in the woodwork industry in Kenya. Discussions on various topics were held that resulted in the publishing of recommendations that ensure the trainee is fully equipped with the skillset required by industry while staying within the duration of the school term at Don Bosco Karen and Makuyu.
At the same time, Mr. Reuter also updated the equipment and tools list at the institution to ensure they are at par with industry needs, also ensuring students are training with modern equipment. We are looking forward to the implementation of the recommendations presented to us in the coming months.
